In 1993, Christopher Huson and Lesli Dalaba opened Capitol Hill Neighborhood Acupuncture in a beautiful old 1913 Seattle building just off Broadway at 126 10th Ave East. They filled it with the art they'd just brought back from China, where they'd travelled to study acupuncture at the Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hangzhou, PRC. They hung their hand-painted shingle on the outside next to the front door, and started treating people.

They worked hard to make their clinic a place that is beautiful, relaxing, and fun.

Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

Oriental Medicine originated in China more than 2,000 years ago, and due to its time tested effectiveness, has been embraced throughout much of the world. It is a holistic system that treats and prevents illness, as well as improves well-being. Though fundamentally different from modern Western medicine, Oriental Medicine is informed by centuries of empirical science employing keen observation and analysis of data.

Oriental Medicine can be used alone or can work to compliment the benefits of Western Medicine and it can often reduce some of the side effects associated with pharmaceutical interventions.

Chris Huson's practice statement:

I really enjoy my work and I hope to bring a bit of compassion and peace to this little part of the community.

My insurance-based practice deals with the treatment of various kinds of pain, and the pain caused by stress. I have had excellent outcomes working with people who have had  neck pain, back pain, and sciatica.  Because acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins it is also effective in relieving stress and its effects: headaches, insomnia, repetitive stress injuries, tendonitis, and fibromyalgia.

In 1996-7 I studied Pediatric Acupuncture from two British practitioners, Julain Scott and Teresa Barlow, through the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Seattle. Since then I have incorporated the treatment of children into my regular practice, with a focus on the respiratory issues of asthma, recurrent cough, and allergies.

Come on in and check out Capitol Hill Neighborhood Acupuncture, and discover how acupuncture and Oriental Medicine may be able to help you.
